Why was the case difficult?

It was difficult because the prostitutes had* no families, so the police couldn’t ask questions.

The streets were* dirty so they couldn’t find clues or evidence.

There was a lot of noise so potential witnesses couldn’t hear the victims.

And it was* at night, so the witnesses couldn’t see anything and help the police.
