Bobsled is a winter sport. For a team, you must have:
– 1 driver
– 3 strong runners
– ice
– a cart with no wheels.
In Jamaica, there is no ice! Sanka doesn’t accept to be on the team and he exaggerates. In Jamaica, there are no igloos, no Eskimos, no penguins and no ICE!
Sanka repeats « ice » because he doesn’t understand.

It’s a book about bobsled.
For a bobsled team, you need a good driver, 3 strong runners to push the cart on ice.
In Jamaica, there is no ice! because there is no winter. It’s always hot and sunny.
Sanka repeats because he doesn’t understand.
He exaggerates because he thinks his friend is very stupid / crazy.
There are no igloos, no Eskimos, and no penguins in Jamaica!

Aujourd’hui, nous avons fait un exercice pour apprendre à choisir entre le présent simple et le présent BE + V-ING.
Ensuite, nous avons regardé un 2ème extrait de Cool Runnings et vous avez décrit ce qui est en train de se passer.
Les deux présents
Le présent simple sert à raconter ses habitudes, sa routine, ses goûts.
Pour toutes les personnes, on met juste le verbe sauf pour HE/SHE/IT on rajoute un -S à la fin du verbe.
A la forme négative, on rajoute DON’T devant le verbe, sauf pour HE/SHE/IT on rajoute DOESN’T.
Le présent BE + V-ING sert à raconter ce qui est en train de se passer.
Pour le conjuguer, je mets BE conjugué (am, are, is) + verbe avec -ING à la fin.
A la forme négative, on rajoute NOT : I am not, You are not, he is not playing.
Convincing Sanka
First, they are talking about a bobsled team.
Derice needs a steady driver.
Then, Sanka is walking and he is going away.
But they are best friends, so they are reconciling and they are hugging.
Finally, Sanka accepts his friend’s proposition.
