The Once-Ler was* very happy so he unloaded his cart.

Then, he chopped a tree and he took* the tuft.

He knitted a Thneed.

Then, he heard* a ga-zump and he saw* the Lorax in a tree stump.

Finally, the Lorax shouted with his bossy voice and he said*: « I’m the Lorax and I speak for the trees! » He was* very upset.

Homework for Thursday 20th:

– connaître l’histoire du Once-Ler en entier et revoir les verbes du tableau.

First, the Once-Ler saw* the Truffula Trees.

Then, he saw* the cute brown bears.

They played under the trees and they ate* Truffula Fruits.

And after that, he saw* the fish.

The touch of the trees was* soft like silk.

And the smell was* fresh like butterfly milk.

The differences between the text and the movie

The Once-Ler has yellow eyes in the text while he has blue eyes in the movie.

Contrary to the text, he has a hat and he is very hairy in the movie.

In the text, you mustn’t knock at the door whereas in the movie, Ted rings at the door.

Unlike in the movie, Ted puts the price in the pail in the text.

Contrary to the text, you can see the Once-Ler’s face in the movie.

The story of The Once-Ler

The Once-Ler is old and scary. He is green and he has yellow eyes. He has gloves.

He lives outside of the city.

He knows the story of the Lorax and of the real trees.

You must pay 15 cents, a nail and the shell of a great great grandfather’s snail and he will speak.

You will not see the Once-Ler because he peeks out of the shutters.

You must toss in the three elements in a pail at the end of a rope.
