Why was the case difficult?

It was difficult because the prostitutes had* no families, so the police couldn’t ask questions.

The streets were* dirty so they couldn’t find clues or evidence.

There was a lot of noise so potential witnesses couldn’t hear the victims.

And it was* at night, so the witnesses couldn’t see anything and help the police.

Some extra context for the murders

In 1888, London was* the largest capital city in the world.

Queen Victoria was* at the head of the country for fifty years. It was* a flourishing period.

And, the Whitechapel murders suddenly caused a scandal.

This district was* sordid, violent, with a lot of drunkenness. It had* the highest death rate.

For the 76000 residents, it was* a daily battle to survive.

A lot of women (1200) had* to turn to prostitution for survival.

The 7 mistakes

In picture 2, the man is holding a knife in his left hand whereas in picture 1 he is holding it in his right hand.

In picture 2 the hat is smaller than in picture 1.

In picture 2, the woman’s toe is missing.

In picture 2, there are no posters on the walls.

In picture 2, the woman has a tattoo on her ankle while in picture 1 she doesn’t (have a tattoo).

In picture 2, there are two windows in the background whereas in picture 1, there’s only one (window).
