An efficient service

The dabbawala service is impressive because it’s not expensive; the food is from your home and your caste; it’s clean, and there are no problems of allergies.

The service is very famous so Prince Charles visited the dabbawalas and invited them to his wedding.

They have many problems: it’s very hot and wet in Mumbai. There is a lot of traffic!

The problems of the dabbawalas

They don’t have a vehicle -> they use the train, they share 2 bikes and use hand-drawn carts.

They don’t use any technology.

They are illiterate -> They can’t read and write.

There are many people in the street. Mumbai is the most densely-populated city in India.

However, the service is excellent! It’s a five-star service thanks to a colour code. The lunch-boxes are colour-coded.

A dabba is an iron bucket with home-made food.

It’s your lunchbox.

Who are the dabbawalas?

They are delivery men. They bring your lunchbox from your home to your office or your school.

What is the language in India?

In India, people speak English and Hindi (and…….).

Two best friends had an adventure and they got lost at sea!

The two boys had physical problems:

-Their skins were burnt by the sun and the salty water.

– They had cramps and headaches.

– They were disoriented.

They had material problems:

– They didn’t have anything to drink, any food, and any mobiles.

  • > They couldn’t call 911

To survive, first they didn’t drink sea water but finally, they couldn’t resist.

They tried to be visible, they screamed and stood up in the boat.
