The main character is Andrea. She wants to find a new job. Before, she was a reporter at a newspaper.
She is not very rich; she doesn’t have an elegant outfit. She doesn’t have a luxury car with a personal chauffeur. She takes the subway.
She eats an onion bagel in a bakery.
She thinks her talents are more important than her looks.
Friday, March 19th
Chris’s final solution
Finally, Chris asks his dad to work with him. But on the 1st day, he oversleeps because it is very early.
He must deliver newspapers in NYC at 3:30 am (in the morning):
He must load the newspapers in the truck, drive the truck and
throw the newspaper in the street.
The job is difficult and tiring because Chris can’t sleep, the newspaper are heavy and it’s cold outside.
But the job is not boring!
Wednesday, March 17th
Chris’s solutions
He wants to work and find a job in … :
– a shoe shop. He wants to be a security guard to protect the shop. He can’t because he is too young, too skinny and short.
– a barber’s. The boss wants Chris to kill the competition. He wants Chris to burn the barber’s with matches.
– a grocer’s. He wants to put the groceries in the bags.
Groceries = fruit, veggies, … .
-> Chris fails to get a job. He is a loser.

Analysis of the painting
Ruby is wearing a white outfit. She looks pure and peaceful.
There is a contrast between her clothes and her skin. She is very flashy and she gets our attention.
She looks like a soldier with a mission: she is walking to fight segregation; she is determined and she doesn’t care.
